Every game I take away some positives, and obviously alot more negatives. My
hope is that in the end the positives eventually become improvement. Sadly, for
the most part I am not seeing it.
Some thoughts on the O
Kenny is a rookie and is making rookie mistakes. I sort of take him out of the
equation and the late INT was tipped and not a horrific pass. He had NO time
today and was under constant pressure.
The Eagles big boys manhandled our OL and applied pressure all day. The Pickens
catch that was inches from a great play and the one that should have been
challenged were both solid throws you can build on.
The biggest issue is the red zone where Kenny and his WRs are repeatedly NOT on
the same page with the ball constantly going to a spot where there is no WR and
they aren't necessarily bad throws they aren't reading the play the same. That
should come with time.
Muth was solid and needs to be targeted more in the middle to open up the
outside.
Chase had a nice catch and run and also needs to be targeted more across the
middle.
DJ simply looks pedestrian this year. Where are the crossing patterns just
across the line that he took for long gains last year.
Najee is looking more and more like a wasted pick and I was all for drafting
him. He blames the OL but repeatedly has happy feet and is not hitting holes
hard. I hated the over use of him as a checkdown guy , but this year
he is getting too few passes. The pass today for no gain after 5 seconds of
dancing should have led to an immediate benching. He has skill, but is not
running hard consistently with or without holes.
Canada had moments today that the team failed on. As mentioned above if Kenny
gets the 2 Pickens catches or gets on the same page with his WR pad the stats
and score more.
He still drives me crazy more than pleasantly surprises me.
I wholeheartedly believe that they need to draft a LT, LG and or C in 2 of the
first 3 rounds or sign a legit free agent. An Eagles level OL solves a whole
lot of problems for this offense and its new QB.
The defense is all over the place and it is amazing how dominant they can be
with TJ and how average without. The get pressure, but can't finish enough.
They had sacks but they were largely after Hurts exhausted all options which is
a good sign about the coverage on those plays, which obviously was an issue on
several others.
This makes 2 consecutive weeks where Minkah missed on big plays in the end
zone. He was in position to make the pick, or breakup at least, on the first
Brown TD. If he breaks that up they may not keep going to that well. ( I'll be
honest I have Brown on my fantasy team. I was not happy, but he did help me)
Reed got a sack last week and hitting Hurts arm likely prevents another big
play, but other than those 2 plays the guy is largley invisible. Jack and Bush
were quiet today.
I fully expected the Eagles to win, but not have their way with us on offense.
Other than the Najee zero catch with no YAC when no once with within 5 yards I
was not mad at all. I am at peace with a rebuild, but I want to see improvement.
I would love to see Mitch or Mason traded for a pick. I don't see Chase leaving
despite rumors and there is no one else on the roster anyone likely wants.
Take the bye to rest and start working on chemisty. Hopefully a healthy TJ
returns and the second half looks better than the first. No pressure for a
winning record or playoffs. Just play. Just improve.

PS Still annoyed at Najee amd Tomlin for not challenging that catch, even if he
loses it.
