HI All,
I have been listening to this thread for a while.
This is great area for communication engineers  to work on. Contributing
back to the GNU Radio might take a long time, but working in this domain
will enhance the communication and signal and system knowledge of
communication engineer. I would suggest a one day gathering and having a
workshop to gain a hands on experience in Gnu radio, followed by taking up
an academic or pass time project on it. People can share code over SVN,
dicussion over IRC and may be in person meets once in two months.
