For anyone who doesn't know, the Amicus Curiae ("Friends of the Court")
briefs are interested parties who want to weigh in (Brady, ACLU, various
gun groups). It's all very long-winded, but it gives everyone an idea of
the ammo thrown against us.
The arguments are scheduled for Nov 3, 2021 and the question is a very
narrow one: "Whether the State's denial of petitioners' applications for
concealed-carry licenses for self-defense violated the Second Amendment."
Because it's such a narrow question, expect a lot of arguments from the gun
controllers that concealed carry isn't guaranteed by 2nd amendment (Statute
of Northhampton, early colonial laws prohibiting "preparatory concealed
armed carriage" - a loaded hidden gun - in areas of dense population such
as markets, fairs, etc) and that states and municipalities are best judges
of gun laws in their jurisdictions.
It will be interesting to see if the court says there's no Constitutional
right to CONCEALED CARRY, but open carry for personal protection is a
right. Wouldn't that be interesting?
