Dear Colleagues:
Networking is arguably the most important part of a conference of investigative
and security professionals. You get to meet colleagues with diverse
backgrounds, from numerous locations and, face-to-face, assess their character
and likely capabilities. Zoom is OK and association directories are helpful,
but nothing replaces what every Investigator knows is the best option:
in-person interaction.
This coming weekend’s 2021 Investigators’ Conference in Texas
(www.picon2021.com <http://www.picon2021.com/>) will have attendees from New
York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Oklahoma, Kansas, Hawaii, Illinois,
Michigan, Iowa, Kentucky, California, Puerto Rico, Panama, Germany, Israel and,
of course, dozens of places in Texas. And there are probably a few locations I
forgot to mention.
It’s not hyperbole to say that this conference is the in-person networking
opportunity of the year for the investigative community. Texas is wide open and
our colleagues from all around the USA and elsewhere are coming to the 2021
Investigators’ Conference.
And the speakers are equally terrific: Brandon Perron coordinating a full day
of pre-con investigative training including “Uncovering Reasonable Doubt”;
Forensic Accounting for Investigators; "Credentialing for Investigative and
Security Professionals”; Alex Price, the famous “SkipGuru”, speaking on
“Skiptracing Fundamentals and Essentials”; Israeli Consul-General Gilad Katz
speaking on “The Fight Against Terror and Extremism…The Good Guys Are Winning”;
representatives from the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation,
United States Postal Inspection Service and Texas SCRA Special Rangers on the
Specialized Law Enforcement Resources panel; Dr. Patrick Juola, who outed J.K.
Rowling’s undercover identity, speaking on “De-Anonymizing Threats, Defamation,
Extortion and Lies”; the famous FOI “Movie Night” with Dr. Peter Collins
speaking on “Using Criminal Profiling, Behavior Analysis and Forensic
psychiatry for Investigation and Successful Interviews”; well-known colleague
Kelly Riddle speaking on a critical topic, "Conducting Nursing Home
Investigations”; then the “International Investigations” panel; then Richard
Whitehead speaking on "Forensic Statement Analysis - "Deception Detection”;
then “Facial Recognition” and “Liquor and Laptops”.
Don’t miss this event…when it’s over, it’s over.
I hope to see you next weekend in Texas,
Steven.
