Everyone
1. The 1st nuke bomb was exploded in the USA as an experiment on a tower.
2. Nazi Germany had already surrendered unconditionally.
3. The USSR had already declared war on Japan as previously agreed.
4. Japan had lost most of their navy and was losing battles and retreating
everywhere.
5. Japan had informed the USA that she wanted to know what our surrender terms
were?
6. At that time Japan considered surrendering was disgraceful, they had
Kamikazi suicide
pilots diving into our ships, our troops reported that when cornered and
out of ammo they
would charge with only bayonets attached to certain death and as a result
we took very
few prisoners, mostly wounded or unconscious and even a slew of civilians
committed
suicide. I remember seeing pictures of mothers clutching babies leaping off
cliffs to
their deaths to escape rape and what other humiliation they thought they
faced.
7. In the end they were granted one condition to surrender, that the Emperor
and his family
would not be put on trial but Generals and other Officers were for
committing crimes and
punished accordingly. The excuse given was that the Emperor was considered
some
kind of God (to die for the Emperor was to live forever) and it would be
easier to rule
Japan with him on our side.
8. In my opinion we delayed talking peace terms where we most likely would have
gotten the
same peace terms as after dropping the bombs so as to impress the world and
intimidate
the USSR.
