        What Book Got You Hooked?

Today's site, from the commendable non-profit organization First Book,
presents the happy results from its recent poll which asked what books got
readers hooked. Gentle Subscribers will find the list of titles and the
state winner of 50,000 books to be distributed to individual children.

"Over 100,000 people responded. ... Discover the Top 50 books that got
readers hooked -- and which state is winning a special donation of 50,000
new books!" - from the website

The site presents its list of books compiled from readers' responses to the
survey. From "Green Eggs and Ham" to the Hardy Boys, the list contains
those unforgettable titles which opened the door to a lifetime of reading
for so many people. In addition to the announcement of the state winner of
the book give-away, a number of celebrities, including Edward Norton (The
Illusionist), David Duchovny (The X Files) and singer / songwriter Patti
LaBelle have contributed their own comments on the books which got them
hooked on reading.
