Virtual Visits
Today's site from the National Park Foundation offers mentally refreshing tours
through a number of America's splendid National Parks. Gentle Subscribers will
discover some of the amazing highlights of these wilderness areas and perhaps
plan a visit In Real Life when circumstances permit.
"Got a bit of downtime? Take a trip to a national park from wherever you are!
Many national park sites across the country offer digital tours and experiences
that you can access anytime, anywhere. From digitally diving under the sea to
watching the cherry blossom trees bloom, there are countless ways to
#FindYourPark / #EncuentraTuParque online." - from the website
Packed into this single presentation are a variety of National Park
experiences. The first section highlights a number of parks which can be viewed
through video or interactive tours, while the second section features live
webcams of a half dozen of the more than 400 parks. Surprisingly, it's not all
bears and geysers at National Parks across the country -- Hot Springs National
Park in Arkansas, the Alexander Hamilton Grange, a National Historic Site in
Manhattan, and the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park in
Massachusetts are among those with virtual tours. The second section showcases
live webcams, including the inviting Paterson Great Falls National Historic
Park in New Jersey, the Statue of Liberty National Monument, with links to
other New York City live cams and naturally, Yellowstone National Park with its
one live-streaming and eight static webcams.
Note: There are a few minor technical glitches; the live Blossom webcam at the
National Mall Cherry Trees seems dead.
