Special Greetings for the Vernal Equinox -- the First Day of Spring
Travel in 'Shoulder Season'
Today's site from the Business Insider offers a frequently overlooked way to
dramatically pare down travel expenses. Gentle Subscribers thinking about their
next excursion will discover a fail safe option to make their travel dollars go
farther.
"My favorite trick to save money on travel is a single decision that saves
hundreds of dollars" - from the website
Defining the 'shoulder season' as a modest six to eight weeks travel date
either prior to or past the high season, travel writer Libby Kane makes a
forceful case for choosing slightly off-season dates. With screenshots of the
startling differences in airline costs from a well-known travel site, the
article points out the obvious savings from this one item alone, without even
delving into trying to find the lowest possible airline costs at the new date.
Further bolstering the claim of spectacular savings, another screenshot
highlights the price differences of classy accommodations on a Greek isle by
visiting in May instead of August. While these travel bargains may appear
sizzling, they may work only for those with flexible schedules.
Note: The Business Insider insists that ad blockers be disabled in order to
read their content; apparently running a customized hosts file will also
trigger an issue with the site.
