Tabletop Whale
Today's site from talented University of Washington biology PhD student Eleanor
Lutz offers a compelling variety of science oriented infographics. Although Ms.
Lutz's academic research deals primarily with mosquitoes, Gentle Subscribers
will discover that her after hours work encompasses a far broader range of
interests.
"I make most of my infographics and charts in Photoshop and Illustrator. ... I
try to be really transparent about my sources, and most of the infographics are
based on reputable scientific sources like textbooks and peer-reviewed research
papers. ... Original charts, infographics, and science animations" - from the
website
This highly original science blog delivers vivid graphics to illustrate various
science themes. Recent projects have included a striking presentation depicting
the adaptation to wildfires made by six native California plants, an
infographic displaying The Basics of Early Childhood Development suitable for
new parents and medical students, and An Illustrated Guide to Selected Drug
Toxicities and Side-Effects in a wonderfully stylized London Underground map
fashion. With archives going back to July 2014, this noteworthy site provides
comprehensible representations of challenging scientific topics.
