possibilities from almost a hundred years ago, in this old-ideas-made-new-again
idiom. Gentle Subscribers will discover, if not exciting, then at least quirky
food preparation alternatives which may spark their curiosity.

Features of the article include links to ways of keeping produce fresh longer,
useful substitutions which are handy to know in the 21st century, and even the
skill of cooking without a net or without a recipe. Ritz Apple Pie made without
apples, Wacky or War Cake which can be made with homemade rolled oats flour
should wheat flour still be largely absent from grocer's shelves or off the
menu entirely due to gluten issues, and a particularly appealing Cabbage Soup
with so many alternative ingredients it could be whipped up by virtually
anyone, anywhere are among the highlights. Not to be missed is the reference to

down with homemade oat flour.
