Belarc Advisor - Software of the Month

Belarc Advisor v. 6.1 is one of those handy tools for the Windows platform
that reveals essential information, on both hardware and software, which is
too frequently omitted in off the shelf models. Older computers missing
documentation for such critical items as the type of motherboard, brand of
hard drive or burner and type of bios, as well as the system serial number,
can have such data retrieved by this program.

A complete system "audit" is performed by the application, including all
operating system updates and a comprehensive list of all installed
software, complete with serial numbers where applicable, an absolute
requisite for many programs which require a reinstall.

"The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software
and hardware, including Microsoft Hotfixes, and displays the results in
your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on
your PC and is not sent to any web server. ... Operating Systems: Runs on
Windows 95/98/Me, NT 4, Windows 2000, XP and Windows Server 2003. Browsers:
Requires IE 3 or Netscape 3, and higher versions. Also runs on Opera,
Mozilla, and Firebird. ... File size: 594 KB. License: The license
associated with this product allows for free personal use only." - from the
website

This freeware program can take the detective work out of ferreting through
both the hardware and software components of any Windows based computer and
provide a convenient printout of its contents for future reference.
