        Leap Year

Today's site from well-known scientist Dr. Eric Weisstein, offers a quick
and easy guide to leap year. Gentle Subscribers who enjoy brushing up their
scientific trivia may find this a handy reference.

The web page takes a brief look at the historical background of leap year
and explains the reason for adding a "leap day" every four years.
Accompanying illustrations, the basic math involved, as well as an
explanation for oddities such as why some expected years, 1800, for
example, were not leap years, are provided as well. Additional information
on topics such as the seasons, a "leap second" and various calendar systems
are referenced through relevant links.
