        National Nutrition Month

Gentle Subscribers seeking a traditional and reliable source of nutrition
guidance need look no further than today's site from the American Dietetic
Association. In support of National Nutrition Month coming up in March, the
association has prepared a helpful web page to provide up-to-date
information to the public.

"National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education and information campaign
... designed to focus attention on the importance of making informed food
choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. NNM also
promotes ADA and its members to the public and the media as the most
valuable and credible source of timely, scientifically based food and
nutrition information." - from the website

The site presents an excellent and comprehensive range of materials,
including a graphic of the food pyramid. The heart of this website is the
section entitled "Nutrition Fact Sheets". These cover a host of topics such
as "Special Needs", "Weight Management" and "Fats, Oils and Sweeteners",
among others. Discover advice for preventing and managing type 2 diabetes,
a primer on fats and oils, data on lactose intolerance and aspartame among
the dozens of helpful fact sheets.
