Are Crows the Ultimate Problem Solvers?

Today's site, a video clip from the BBC2's Inside the Animal Mind series,
presents an amazing example of a clever crow tackling a sophisticated puzzle.
Gentle Subscribers will discover an eye-opening example of the skills used by
the crow to achieve its goal.

"This bird, dubbed '007', spends only seconds analysing the puzzle before
getting down to business. Despite the puzzle's difficulty, the bird only seems
to be stumped momentarily. At the end of the puzzle is a food reward, but how
he gets there is what will really blow your mind..." - from the website

Extracted from an episode of the BBC2 series, this brief but striking video
demonstrates the problem solving skills of the featured crow. In just over
three minutes in length, the segment highlights the reasoning process which
must be mastered in order to work out the puzzle and reach the reward. After
viewing this singular performance, it will be difficult to view the humble crow
in quite the same way.
