From Text Neck to Hogwarts Headache: 6 Injuries for the Modern Era

Today's site, from the bright-eyed folks at Mental Floss, offers a rundown
on a series of new physical injuries caused primarily by devices which
didn't exist several decades ago. Gentle Subscribers will discover a
startling list of maladies largely attributable to the 21st century's love
affair with technology.

"Our shiny new gadgets (and one teen wizard) are proving once again that
human beings are really easily breakable." - from the website

This pleasantly written article outlines the sources of new physical,
self-inflicted discomforts. From the self-explanatory "text neck" to the
all too obvious business person's "Blackberry thumb", this little list
reveals the toll exacted by a number of popular gadgets. On a more serious
note, the report points out the alarming increase in pedestrian fatalities
attributed to the widespread use of noise isolating earphones, which
obscure the warning sounds of traffic, as well contributing to pedestrian
inattention. To place these concerns in perspective, an additional feature
spotlights a story on the shocked reaction to the introduction of car
radios in the 1930's.
