20 Everyday Items Developed By NASA

Today's site, from the Business Insider, offers a cogent report on an array
of diverse products which owe either their origins or enhancements to the
U.S. space program. Gentle Subscribers will discover a sometimes surprising
collection of NASA-derived items whose existence has improved the quality
of life for ordinary people.

"[T]he Space Program's research and advancements extend well beyond
spaceflight into everyday life. Since the agency's creation in 1958,
technologies originally developed for space missions have been adapted for
commercial products and services on Earth." - from the website

This widely varied collection of items denotes the many challenges NASA has
been able to overcome in their space exploration quest. From developing
lightweight materials to protect astronauts from impact forces, to dealing
with nutrition issues in space, these products have made their way into
everyday use. Each is linked to further information, primarily of a
non-technical nature, at the vast NASA site. More detailed material is
available on baby food and UV-blocking sunglasses, while the link on
artificial limbs leads to NASA coverage of a number of additional items.
