Wilmington v Grand Rapids Gold. The first period went back and forth with 7
lead changes, 19 personal fouls and no team gained more than a 5 point lead.
The quarter ended with GRG up 30-27. GRG led for all but 41 seconds of the
2nd, but the lead was always 6 or less. Reddish gave WIL their only lead of Q2
on a 3 pointer to tie the game and a FT to put WIL up by 1. Campazzo came down
and hit a 3 pointer to put GRG right back in the lead. GRG was up 62-56 at the
half.
The Gold grew the lead to 15 over the first 4:33 of Q3 with a Randle
penetration basket putting GRG up 78-63. WIL went on a 10-2 run to get the
lead back into single digits where it remained thru Q3. Clarkson's only basket
of the night with 0:27 to go in the 3rd and a Moses Brown FT with 1 second to
go put GRG up by 9 at 89-80 heading into the 4th. The 4th was another brutal
battle with 17 fouls called. Clarkson hit the pine for the night picking up
his 4th, 5th and 6th fouls in the first 2 minutes of the 4th. WIL used those
free throws and offensive rebounds to score the first 8 points of the 4th to
cut the lead to 1 at 89-88. Aaron Gordon hit 3-4 free throws for the Gold
while Maledon and Holmes went 4-4 at the line to tie the game at 92 before a
Gordon IS basket keyed a 10 point GRG run culminated by Randle's driving layup
to make it 102-92. The teams more or less traded baskets from then on with the
lead swinging from 8 to 13 points but never in doubt as the Gold prevailed
119-108.
Randle led GRG with 35 points, Gordon had 21, Holiday 16 and JaMychal Green and
Lowry 14 apiece. Lowry added 11 assists. Hayward led WIL with 25 points.
Cody Zeller had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. WIL was cold
all night from long range hitting only 5 of 27 3-pt shots. The free throw line
was the place to be as WIL made 39 of 44 FT's while GRG was cold from the
charity stripe missing 16 free throws going 29-45 from the line

of 119 to 108. Julius Randle had 35 points for Grand Rapids. Gordon Hayward
had
25 points for Wilmington. Grand Rapids's(29-10) next game will be on the road
vs. Rockford while Wilmington(15-20) plays at home vs. Reading.
