The Gold escaped with a 103-101 home victory over Madison. MAD had a 5 point
lead after 8 minutes until the Gold reeled off 10 unanswered points to end the
quarter up 28-21. The Gold had another 12 point run in the 2nd to open a 44-29
lead. By halftime, the lead was still 12 at 60-48. MAD turned up the defense
and held GRG to only 9 points over the first 10 minutes of the 3rd to take a
70-69 lead. GRG responded with the last 5 minutes of the quarter to lead 74-70
heading into the 4th. MAD opened up a 4 point lead when Oubre made an OS with
3:45 left on the clock. Randle responded with his first made FG of the night
to cut the lead to 2. Bagley split a pair at the line, Clarkson took the
shorter Brogdon inside and dunked it, then Kendrick Williams stole the ball and
drove in for a basket to put GRG ahead 99-98. Paschall IS put MAD back up then
Williams came up big again scoring inside. Lowry followed that with a FB
basket, the last basket of the night. Paschall split a pair at the line with
19 seconds to play to make it 103-101 but MAD could not get the ball back.
Siakam scored 32 to lead the Gold. Randle had 11 assists to make up for a 2-17
shooting night. Williams and JaMychal Green each had 11 big points. The Gold
pressed MAD creating 25 turnovers and 16 steals. MAD shot almost 60% from the
field but had 26 fewer shots due to the turnovers and steals. Davis led the
way with 23 points. The two teams combined to go 7-33 from beyond the arc.
