The Gold caught another scheduling break as Jimmy Butler had to miss this
tightly contested matchup. The game bounced back and forth with neither team
able to gain a lead of more than 5 points until midway thru the 2nd when the
Gold scored 14 unanswered points to open a 11 point lead. By halftime, DAV had
cut the lead to 7. A Kendrick Williams 3 pointer opened a 16 points lead at
the 6:40 mark of the 3rd, the largest lead of the game. A Brissett 3-pointer
brought it back down to 7 but a Williams tip-in with :01 on the clock made the
lead 9 after Q3. DAV chipped away and a Westbrook 3 cut the lead to just 3
with 3:18 to play. JaMychal Green followed that with a big-time 3 of his own
and DAV would only score 2 points in the final 3 minutes. A Pascal Siakam slam
dunk on a fast break with :01 left made the final margin 9 points and prompted
a shoving match with Westbrook who does not take kindly to last second baskets.
GRG had 8 players score 9 or more points with Randle leading the way with 26
points, but the real hot hands were Kendrick Williams 8-8 from the field
including a pair of 3's for 18 points and Jrue Holiday 6-7 from the field for
15 points. J Green had his first big day for GRG contributing 11 points and 9
REB in 20 minutes. Westbrook led DAV with 31 points and 12 Assists. 5 other
players scored in double figures with Satoransky next high with 16. DAV shot
55% from the field (42-76) and GRG shot 56% (44-78). The big difference came
at the line where the Gold were 24-33 while DAV was only 11-18.
