Game 5- ANA @ LAK (Series tied 2-2)
In the first period, Griffin gets called for a charge on the first shot of
the game and Murray hits three on a blank 5 picking up where he left off in
Game 2. 45 seconds into the game, Griffin gets a D-11 to go with his D-9
for a second offensive foul. An Opp Def 22 gives Thompson a steal and FB
basket. Griffin tipped in a miss on a D-2 with an O 1-7 that comes up 7.
On an open inside shot, Griffin gets a D-8 to drop just missing a third
offensive foul. A loose ball foul went against Thompson. An Opp Def 23
gave Lowry a steal and FB basket. Lowry put ANA back on top 7-6 with a
dazzler. Thompson answered with a D-9 three pointer. Curry got a D-9
three pointer as well. Ibaka scored inside on a D-6. Griffin got fouled
and made two FT's for a 14-9 lead. Bradley hit a three on a D-9. Harrell
got his X 1-16 but an 18 came up. Ingles missed his 6-20 dazzlers. The
moment Jokic stepped on the floor he got a dazzler to tie the game at
14-14. Again Harrell got his X 1-16 but a 19 came up this time. Neto
scored on a FB shot. Monk drew the second foul on Harrell on an outside
shot and he made both FT's. Harrell got an X-4 against a 2-4 defender.
Monk hit a three on a D-8 to put ANA back on top 19-18. Gobert scored
inside but then fouled Jokic on an Opp Def 36 putting Lake K over the foul
limit and Jokic sank both FT's. Gobert scored a D-7 FB shot. Neto got a
FB dazzler and Pondexter scored off an Opp Def 23 steal to make it 26-21
Lake K. Dedmon missed a three but Lake K was called for another Loose Ball
Foul and Murray made 1 of 2 FT's. LeVert scored inside on a switch.
Murray scored on a drive and while Lake K was holding for the last shot,
the refs called a technical foul on us with six seconds left. Monk made
the FT and a Neto RG pass came up 1 for a turnover missing his 2-7
dazzlers. After 12 minutes, Lake K led 28-25 with ANA leading by as
mich as 3 and Lake K leading by as much as 6. Lake K led 10-2 in both FB
scoring and points in the paint. Lake K led 63% to 40% FG shooting. ANA
was 3 for 12 from downtown while Lake K was 2 for 4. ANA led 6-2 in made
FT's. Lake K doubled up ANA 10-5 in rebounds while both teams got 7
assists. But 8-2 in fouls and 7-5 in turnovers were both hurting Lake K.
Lake K had 8 players score between 2 and 6 points with Griffin at 6.
Murray and Monk each scored 8 for ANA.
In the second period, Jokic started things off with another dazzler. Ibaka
scored inside to restore the lead for ANA but Griffin answered right back
inside on a blank 12. Jokic got fouled but missed 1 of 2 FT's tying the
game at 30-30. Griffin got a dazzler and got fouled making both FT's.
Lowry hit a three on a blank 5. Ingles got a dazzler but Ibaka scored
after getting blocked by Griffin and tipping in his own miss. Griffin made
two FT's and Gobert made 1 of 2 FT's. Lowry got a dazzler and Griffin got
another dazzler. Bradley missed a three but an off team reb allowed Lowry
to get another dazzler. Griffin missed a three but tipped in his own
miss. Ibaka scored inside and Harrell made 1 of 2 FT's giving ANA 4 team
fouls with seven minutes left in the half. Ibaka tipped in another
offensive rebound on an X-5 against a 2-5,11 defender. Ibaka scored inside
again putting ANA back on top 45-44. Griffin missed two open inside shots,
but on the second one, Ingles tipped it in on an O 1-4 that came up 3.
Lowry got another dazzler and Harrell scored inside as the lead kept
changing hands. Curry scored on an Opp Def 24 steal but Lowry got another
dazzler. Harrell kept finding his 1 turnover and another loose ball foul
on Lake K not only gave ANA another possession but prevented FT's for Lake
K. Jokic scored inside and got another dazzler for a 53-50 ANA lead,
matching their biggest so far. Griffin scored inside on a switch but then
he missed his 7-20 dazzlers on the next possession. But Curry hit a D-9
three ball to put Lake K back on top 55-53. Lowry got another dazzler to
tie the game but then reached in on an Opp Def 36 sending Curry to the line
and he made both including one 10. Murray got another three on a blank 5
and Lake K again failed to hold for the last shot with another turnover.
With one second left, Adebayo scored inside on a D-5 to give ANA a 60-57
halftime lead. Lake K's FG edge had shrunk to 61% to 55% thanks to all the
dazzlers ANA was getting. ANA led 13-5 in assists in that quarter! Points
in the paint are now tied 22-22. Griffin led all with 18 points and still
had 2 fouls. Murray was leading ANA with 17 and Ibaka had 16. Curry was
the only other double digit scorer in the game with 12. Jokic was held to
5 points but did have a game high 7 assists.
In the third quarter, Ibaka scored on the first touch of the half to give
ANA their biggest lead so far at 62-57. Gobert made 1 of 2 FT's, and after
another off team reb, Ibaka scored inside. Griffin made four straight FT's
to cut it to 64-62 but then Ibaka rolled a D-7 and Gobert could not get his
1-14 blocks. Lake K kept turning it over but now ANA was missing some
shots. Gobert made 1 of 2 FT's putting ANA over the limit with eight
minutes left. Another offensive foul on Griffin but Curry hit a three to
tie the game at 66-66. Murray scored on a drive and Harrell scored
inside. Ibaka got an X-11 against a 2-5,11 defender. Griffin made 1 of 2
FT's and Neto scored on a drive to put Lake K back on top 71-70. Murray
hit a three on a D-4 and Harrell got another offensive foul. Jokic scored
inside and Gobert scored on an offensive rebound. Monk hit a three on a
D-8 but Pondexter hit a jumper only because of an open pass. Murray scored
on an off reb and LeVert scored on a switch. Murray scored on a drive on
two possessions in a row putting ANA up 84-77, the biggest lead of either
team so far. Harrell missed on an off reb and Neto missed his 6-20 FB
dazzlers. Jokic scored on a switch and for the third time Harrell found
his 1 turnover. Dedmon scored inside for an 88-77 lead and ending the
quarter on an 8-0 run to take an 11 point lead into the 4th quarter. Lake
K still leads 56% to 54% FG shooting and 17-7 in made FT's. ANA made three
more 3's but took 16 more to get that. Neither Lowry nor Jokic got an
assist that quarter but ANA still led 9-3 in assists and ANA now leads
29-15 in assists. Murray leads all now with 28 points and Ibaka is right
behind him with 24. Griffin leads Lake K with 23 and Curry has 15. The
only other double digit scorer for either team is Monk with 11.
In the fourth quarter, Griffin scored inside but Jokic did the same on the
other end. For the third time Curry found his 1 turnover and Bradley hit a
three on a blank 4 for a 14 point lead. Thompson hit a three on a D-8 but
Lowry hit a three on a blank 5. Griffin got a dazzler and Gobert scored on
an offensive rebound to cut it to 96-86. Jokic made 1 of 2 FT's and Ingles
got a dazzler. Jokic missed inside with an X-3 and Gobert's blank
defense. Griffin got another dazzler but Ibaka scored on an offensive
rebound. Curry missed a three and missed on an Opp Def 24 steal and FB
shot but tipped in his own miss. Ibaka scored on another off reb. Griffin
scored inside on two possessions in a row to cut it to 101-96. Again Ibaka
scored on a D-7 when Harrell couldn't get his 1-10 blocks. Griffin missed
two FT's and Ibaka stayed unstoppable inside. Curry hit a D-9 three to cut
it to 105-99 with 6:23 left. Then Ingles hit a D-9 three to suddenly make
it a three point game. But Bradley hit a three on a blank 5 and Harrell
made 1 of 2 FT's. Lowry found his 1-2 turnovers and Ibaka couldn't steal
an Opp Def 22 but Harrell missed inside and Lowry got another dazzler.
Harrell made two FT's but Lowry got another dazzler. Ingles again missed
his 6-20 dazzlers and Monk scored on a drive to make it 114-105 with three
minutes left. Ingles got a dazzler but Jokic made two FT;s. Griffin got a
dazzler, ANA turned it over, and Griffin got another dazzler with 1:32 left
and ANA up 116-111. An Opp Def 22 was a steal but Thompson missed the FB
shot. Jokic found his 1-6 turnovers and Lake K called timeout to run a
play for Curry. He pulled up for three and banged it in with a blank 12 to
make it a 7-0 run and 116-114 game with 0:51 left. Monk found his 1-3
turnovers and amazingly with 30 seconds left Curry hit a blank 5 three for
a 10-0 run (all 10 by Curry), and 117-116 Lake K lead. An Opp Def 38 put
Lake K over the limit with 26 seconds left and Ibaka made both including
one 8 for a 118-117 ANA lead. Harrell scored on a D-7 when Jokic could not
get his 1-4 blocks but Lowry got another dazzler with four seconds left.
Lake K wasn't given a chance to call timeout but was able to get one more
shot. With one second left Griffin got fouled. He missed the first with a
9 but made the second with a 5. To overtime we go tied at 120-120 in a
crazy ending to regulation!
In overtime, Murray missed a three and Monk was called for a charge on the
off reb. Griffin got a hoop and some harm and made the FT this time for a
123-120 lead. Jokic was open inside but rolled a X-7 and got blocked by
Gobert and Griffin got a dazzler. Jokic rolled a blank 9 to miss again but
Griffin missed inside on the other end. But Gobert swooped in for the off
reb and got a hoop and some harm and made the FT for a quick 8 straight
points to start the OT in the first 90 seconds. Ibaka who was 17 for 20
from two point land in regulation missed inside on an X-10 and Griffin
scored inside on a D-5 for a 130-120 Lake K lead and 11 straight points
since the Lowry dazzler with four second left in the 4th. Lowry got a
dazzler to end the run and Curry missed a three. Monk then hit a three on
a D-9 to cut it to 130-125 with 2:30 left. A LG pass by Thompson was a
turnover even with no turnover on his passing column. Another dazzler by
Lowry suddenly made it a three point game. Thompson missed an open three
but an Opp Def 21 gave Lake K the ball back. Harrell got fouled with 1:29
left and made 1 of 2 FT's. Gobert got the rebound but rolled a D-7 for an
automatic miss and Lake K missed a chance to waste some time. Jokic rolled
an X-6 against Gobert's blank defense but Ibaka tipped in the miss to make
it 131-129 with 1:20 left. An Opp Def 39 sent Harrell to the line and he
made both with 1:14 left. ANA called timeout to run a play for Jokic but
an Opp Def 22 was another steal for Gobert. Griffin was intentionally
fouled with 50 seconds left and made both with a 7 and 8 putting Lake K up
135-129. Again Jokic was denied by Gobert's defense and Lake K called
their last timeout with 43 seconds left. Curry was intentionally fouled
with 37 seconds left but missed 1 of 2 on a 12. Monk decided to drive
instead of pulling up for three and got blocked by Gobert on a D-7. Curry
was intentionally fouled again with 23 seconds left. He made both for a 9
point lead. ANA got three straight "replay" actions for a 24 second
violation that somehow left 4 seconds left (I guess the refs though 19
seconds equals 24). Gobert was fouled with two seconds left and made 1 of
2. Jokic ended the game with a meaningless dazzler. Lake K steals Game 5
in overtime 139-131 after trailing by 9 with two minutes left in the 4th
and trailing by one with four seconds left. ANA almost stole it back in
overtime after cutting a ten point deficit to two but ran out of gas.
Ibaka has suddenly become one of the best player's in the whole league with
his third straight dominate game scoring a game high 38 points. He made 18
out of 22 two point shots! Murray had his usual strong game with 32
points. Monk scored 18 off the bench. Both Jokic and Lowry had
double-doubles. Jokic paired 16 points with 11 assists but only managed 3
rebounds and went 0 for 4 from the field in OT. Lowry had 10 points and a
game high 13 assists. Griffin and Curry each scored 37 points and Griffin
had a team high 10 assists. Gobert also contributed a double-double with
19 points and a game high 10 rebounds. He also had some huge steals and
blocks in OT. Harrell was quiet until the end of the game and finished
with 17.
