Evening!Five members of your club descended on our new flying field on Mines
Road this morning! As you may be aware from an earlier notice from President
Andy, a neighbour raised concerns regarding a potential for noise from our
planes. Dick Colley & Terry Dawson flew their micro radians which make very
little noise. I personally flew my Drifter 11 which has been converted to
electric power. I made a number of climb outs, all 30 secs or less in
duration. Members in the pit area could not hear any noise. As it was pointed
out, different planes produce different levels of noise and of course the
strength and direction of the wind could also factor in causing noise concerns.
We have to be very diligent with the potential for noise complaints. As
pointed out by President Andy Meysner, no sport or land plane flying until
further notice.
Anne Tekatch flew her F3RES Samba a number of times and Otakar flew his
gorgeous Supra off of his own electric winch. I personally experienced some
awesome flying with the Drifter 11 and actually had to dump altitude a number
of times for fear of losing the wee beast in the clouds! : )
The sod is bare in sections but there are still lots of areas with good
coverage. It’s a great field to fly from and I hope to see lots of members
attend this Saturday’s contest (weather permitting!) I have attached, a few
pictures from todays flying.
Cheers!Lyle
