  I have had a very good chance to review this set of local rules designed to 
ease some of the restrictions of “The Rules of Golf.”  I vote to approve them. 
I see in this morning’s fish wrapper that San Diego is preparing to open golf 
courses, so I hope we can put together an outing and test out some of these 
local rules. I, for one, foresee the grand opportunity to take relief from dung 
sitting on a tree root as I take relief from a sprinkler head near the putting 
green.

Attached please find a proposed SOGAGG set of local rules for your review and 
approval – there are only ten.  A special thanks to Rules for taking the time 
to create this thoughtful and detailed set of guidance.   Each includes 
supportive verbiage in plain English and several with descriptive diagrams.  He 
has also incorporated the suggestions that a number of you have offered.

 

This rendering is not to create a restrictive, stilted outing (that couldn’t 
happen anyway since we proudly possess zero self-discipline) but rather to 
establish some basic rules that we can use to bring a bit of uniformity into 
our play and well, let’s face it, it’s mostly to ensure that we all work under 
the same basics in order to win the side bets….

 

Please look them over and if you have any concerns, feel free to bring them 
forth.  Otherwise, let’s consider giving this a test run and see if how it goes.
