Hello Patriot Golf Day Players and Donors,
Thank you all for a wonderful day of golf and fellowship at our inaugural
Patriot Golf Day event in beautiful San Diego on Monday, August 6th.
Players since for some teams I only have one email address, would you
please pass along this email to your teammates if they did not register as
a single player.
Hat's off to the Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf and Banquet staff for a job well
done. The course was in fine summer condition and their help with setting
up the many contests made the day very enjoyable. The complimentary beers,
waters and sodas from our beverage cart sponsors were also very well
received by the players and volunteers out on the course.
To thank everyone that made this Patriot Golf Day a reality would take a
Herculean effort. Most importantly the success of our PGD Tournament can
be measured in the final charitable donation that the entire pool of
sponsors, players, donors and volunteers made possible only through
stepping up and making that financial commitment. I'd be remiss in not
acknowledging the support of the NDIA San Diego Chapter membership and the
2018 Navy Gold Coast Small Business Conference team that made this golf
tournament a tremendous success.
There were 148 golfers, 40+ volunteers, 20+ sponsors and donors as well as
donations for our silent auction. Without that ground swell of support,
the check for the Folds of Honor Foundation would have been much smaller.
Although we are still tallying up every collection, we raised at least
$10,000 for this fine charitable organization.
The PGD Tournament Committee was made up of a rag-tag bunch of volunteers
who are all members of a notoriously comical group known as the Society of
Golfers Against Good Golf or SOGAGG for short. Dressed in their patriotic
red hat, summer white SOGAGG polo and navy blue shorts, the crew were up at
the crack of dawn making sure the rubber rafts were in place for the par 3
fourth hole contest challenge as well as the other contests throughout the
course. The enthusiasm of the SOGAGG members and the entire tournament
field was contagious and everyone seemed to be enjoying the spirit of the
day, including the stirring rendition of our national anthem to kick off
the PGD event. Also a special thanks to Helna Correll and her team at San
Diego Site Pros in handling the many last minute golf registrations and
payments.

Just one final request. We realize in putting on an event of this size and
magnitude there are always some glitches mostly unforeseen. It would help
the SOGAGG tournament committee to get your thoughts and recommendations on
how this event can be improved in the future. Please take a few moments to
tell us what you liked as well as any dislikes so we can reevaluate our
tournament plan for next year. If you were a sponsor this year or are
considering a sponsorship for the next PGD tournament, we would also
welcome your input on how we can make a sponsorship package more valuable
