That's terrific news re: Dave Rodriguez. Now we can officially unleash our
most imaginative callsign braincells.
One challenge for me of course, is that I haven't played very many rounds of
golf with David and therefore have not witnessed many indiscretions or golf
mannerisms that would naturally lead to an obvious tag line. I offer (Bent)
"Shaft" as one example of the perfect callsign. You all know what I'm
talking about (err... I guess "Knockdown" could also be considered in that
same category..).
So, given the fact that I am shooting a bit in the dark here, then these are
a few ideas for the group's consideration:
. "Swale" -- Defined as a "depression in the terrain". Also could
be used to indicate a relatively decent golf shot, such as: "That was a
'swale' shot there Dave".. or .. "Who hit that 'swale' shot? That was
'Swales' swale shot.." (OK, my Southern roots are starting to show here.
But I did just finish building a house in North Carolina..)
. "Plug" -- A ball that makes its own "depression in the terrain"
usually by hitting the ground and then attempting to hide itself by pulling
nearby earth over its little ball head.. (probably out of embarrassment).
May also be a derivative of the combination of "plucky" and "pugnacious".
. "Bunker" -- Ability to find the sand with greater dexterity than
the cup. Not that ANYONE in SOGAGG has ever done that...
. "Non-selective Perimeter Weighting" - Ok, I just threw this one in
here to see if anyone was actually reading this...
Those are some thoughts. I defer to others who have better knowledge of
young David's golf habits. But I do believe that our policy of
re-designating callsigns based upon the most recent (bad) behavior or
indiscretion should continue to be sustained.

mentioned with David Rodriquez being discussed by a number of our cadre. I
thought we might start there.

SOGAGG Colleagues (Knockdown, please pass to Bounce Back),
We have chatted for some time now about adding to our wardrobe (we're into
our fourth year of existence). The predominate thought was shirts (ah, but
those pants would be something). I will order them once we have consensus
on a couple of things that need your inputs:
1. Should we get another set of shirts?
2. What color should the shirt be?
3. What color should the lettering be?
a. There has been discussion of orange shirts and black lettering
i. Other
thoughts, if any?
ii. Divot
mentioned at last Friday's outing he was somewhat prone to pink shirts with
lime-green lettering. Really, Divot? Really?
4. Should there be any design changes?
a. If so, please advise your thoughts.
5. Before we actually do this, are there any other candidates for
SOGAGG membership we should evaluate in order to ensure we don't end up
doing this piece-meal?
6. Someday down the road, we will probably need a flag and/or banner
and yes, pants.
7. Once we have reached agreement on the items above, I will get the
shirts aboard and then we can discuss the individual payments.
