Hi Liz Thanks, yes, I hate having to wait for the temperature to drop before whizzing, it's a real pain. Next batch of soap I make I'll try without the thermometers as I have made several batches of soap already. I guess if the jug with lye in it is warm to the touch then it must be about skin temperature ie 35 C and if oils melted they too will be at correct temp for mixing. I understand what you're saying here plus have watched Gina make soap in one of her soap making class but I always follow instructions to the letter it is that annal accountant in me.
