No. I hated working by myself plus I tended to attract the "nutters". Draw
your own conclusions about that :-)

Are you working as a naturopath now? A number of those I have studied with
and who studied full-time, have found it quite difficult to get a practice
started and rather hard to get work at all in the natural therapies area.

Oh, I am half way through my diploma of naturopathy and herbalism Ross, love
it, but struggling to fit the study in at times, as I have to work full
time...:( but, still having fun with it!

I still think it is important to think about grounding your top notes.
Also, make your blend and LEAVE it for a while. I have some blends that
have been sitting for a month now and that helps for the whole blend to
consolidate.

Firstly, I studied for 4 years to be a naturopath so I have some knowledge
from there. Plus lots of reading and experimentation. Take time to
understand the oils. Smell them in the bottle and really get a sense of
them. Put a spot on some tissue or blotter and check on the scent over
several hours. See how it changes. Experiment with combinations. Combine,
test, leave, test, leave, test.....

I also have a huge perfume oil addiction (and collection).

I do understand what you're saying Ross but I always thought (correct me if
I'm wrong) that if you use a mixture of base, top and middle notes that the
scent will last longer whereas if you use a single essential oil (as I do)
then the scent won't last as long. I've had problems trying to get soap
with ylang ylang scent everytime I make soap with my favorite essential oil
(I'm into floral scents) after the curing time the scent is virtually
undetectable and I wasn't sure if I had put in enough of the oil. When I
read the "Soap naturally" book I got the impression that with top notes you
have to anchor them with middle and base notes. To be honest, I'm not sure
what's happening.

How did you learn so much about scents Ross? How do you make blends? I'm
dying to try your soap as the smell is divine.

Cheers
Louise
