Thanks, Sam. I only have my Brailliant BI 40 to use via bluetooth, and
when I last tried it with BRLTTY, even that process was buggy, but I'll
see how I go with adding the account via Settings, Accounts, add an account.

I have seen this behaviour before. My work-around has been to complete the
entry with a bluetooth braille or QWERTY keyboard. You could also try adding
the google account from settings, accounts, add an account, and see if this
works any better for you.
