Thanks for this. I was wondering if there was a way because I have a very
small data plan and get heaps of emails in so would go through my plan quite
quickly if I tried using it. I currently have my data turned off all the
time and only use WIFI but now I know how to turn off my emails if I am out
somewhere without WIFI and I want to look up something on the net I can
hopefully turn off email then turn on data and look up whatever it is. Of
course this is if this setting works how it should.
Look forward to hearing others results before I try it myself, just encase
it doesn't work.

A while ago someone asked how to stop downloading emails once you've set up
an account. In case you're still looking for this, you press the Menu key
and go into Settings. You select your email account, and arrow down to
Synch. Set Synch to Never. You can always reset it later if you need to
access your emails again. If you wish to permanently stop emails, I guess
you could delete your details like user name and password.
I have chosen to turn off emails. I'm considering that, when my postpaid
plan expires, I might go back to a prepaid plan and save thirty bucks a
month. I could still use the smart features when I have my wifi turned on.
