thanks David for the information.
The slackonly resource can be handy and I encourage all its users to
first read: https://slackonly.com/readme.html, but be aware that:
1. It contains binary packages. You may or may not consider this as a
trusted source, although I haven't heard of issues triggered by using
these repositories so far.
2. It is not always in sync with https://slackbuilds.org as as that
needs to rebuild packages listed in this ChangeLog:
http://slackbuilds.org/ChangeLog.txt every time there is a change.
As an example at time of writing zoom-linux has been updated for version
5.0.398100.042 in slackbuilds.org on Sun May 3 01:49:27 UTC 2020 but
this ChangeLog:
https://packages.slackonly.com/pub/packages/14.2-x86_64/ChangeLog.txt
shows that in the slackonly repository it has been udated for version
3.5.352596.0119 on Wed Feb 19 15:55:28 UTC 2020 so is older. This can
matter or not depending on the packages.
3. Alternatively, you can generally build the same software yourself.
at teh current version in slackbuilds.org. In this specific case you
would type as root following commands:
1. to sync your local repository with https://slackbuilds.org:
sbopkg -r
2. to write a build queue with the dependencies in the right order case
occuring:
sqg -p zoom-linux
In the case of zoom-minux there wiil be no queue as the build script
just repackage the official binary.
3. to build and install all packages of the queue (case occurring) then
the wanted one:
sbopkg -k -i zoom-linux
The -k option skips (removes from the queue) dependencies already
installed

There is a Zoom client for Linux, it requires gcc of 4.7 and higher.
SLINT uses gcc-5.5.0.
You must add the Zoom public key to your GPG key ring.
As user in MATE-terminal:

Then you have to trust the key:

The Zoom application for Linux:
In MATE-terminal as user change directory into Downloads then wget to
obtain the application, unarchive the application, change into the
application folder.

https://packages.slackonly.com/pub/packages/14.2-x86_64/network/zoom-linux/zoom-linux-3.5.352596.0119-x86_64-1_slonly.txz
Become root user:
su
Install the package:
installpkg ./zoom-linux-3.5.352596.0119-x86_64-1_slonly.txz
Exit root user:
exit
Run zoom-linux
Zoom offers a browser plug-in to start or schedule a ZOOM meeting
from your browser.

Linux distros to download for. Slint wasn't there--nor Slackware. I
don't think I have a proper app or Zoom client already, since a
slapt-get --search attempt and a "man zoom" check gave me something very
different.
At this point, I just want to join something, not host it. Can anybody
