Hi,
No, you did not miss anything.
I am a type of person who learns by example. That's why I would like to hear
how it works before I decide to switch to a new screen reader. Maybe it is just
me.
Sure, I already tried Fenrin and its default voice did not appeal to me at all.
From my end, it is much worse than espeak. Of course, I know that I can change
it.
I am going to play with Fenrir more and I will tweak it to my liking. It is
definitely worth to invest some time into it.
Thanks,
Pawel

Hi,
I am not aware of a way to hear fenrir in action, but why you would you need
that? Setting a voice from RHVoice for fenrir you will hear exactly the same
voice as when using it with Orca in the GUI.
And fenrir is installed by default in Slint, so you can just try it.
As it happens, Peter Vágner has been kind enough to post on the Orca mailing
list samples of all RHVoices this morning (European time).
I attach this file and you can listen to the samples just typing:
mpv rhvoices-sampled.m3u
Do I miss something?
Cheers,
Didier

Hi,
I've been using Speakup from day one.
I don't have anything against Fenrir. It might be my fault, however, I
haven't got a chance to listen to any comprehensive, straight forward demo of
Fenrir anywhere.
I would appreciate any pointers to "see" Fenrir in action.
Thanks,
Pawel

Hi,
no. But you can use RHVoice whith speechd-up or fenrir.
speechd-up honors the settings made in /etc/speech-dipsatcher/speechd.conf.
Have also a look at /etc/speechd-up.conf (and sorry for the remaining typo
sin this file...).
You can also use fenrir, which can rely on speech-dispatcher.
See the config files in /etc/fenrirscreenreader and more specifically
in
/etc/fenrirscreenreader/settings/settings.conf*
To know more ask StormDragon as he is at least partially guilty of
fenrir ;)
To choose which one to use, type as root:
speak-with
To know which synthesizers are available and associated languages/voices type:
spd-list.
Cheers,
Didier

Hi,
I just quickly went through Slint manual looking for a way of hiring
RHVoice to work with speakup, but I was unable to find any clear
instruction on how to do it, if it is possible at all.
So, my question is:
Can I use RHVoice with speakup in the CLI?
Thank you for any suggestions.
