I see no one has answered your question. I will try to answer your
question, but I may be wrong.
If you are strictly in the console with no GUI Desktop running and you
have enabled the sudo command,do the following:
1. type
sudo mount /dev/sdb /media/cdrom
and press enter
NOTE: The sdb of the /dev/sdb above is what I am not sure about. The "b"
may be "c" or "d" or something else.
2. Type
in mplayer /media/cdrom/file-name
where FILE-NAME is the name of the file you want to play.
and press enter
Hope this works I do not have a CD to try it out with.
