IMHO you shouldn't have any problem, however keep in mind that
Slackware and Slackinosh aren't born as automatic dependencies
resolving distributions ;-) if I'd were you I'll take a look at
Slackware's UPGRADE.TXT (
http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackware/UPGRADE.TXT ), especially the
sections about removed packages and newer addictions.

A quick and dirty how to would be:
+ upgrade core system (glibc and so on)
+ removepkg removed packages
+ upgradepkg */*.tgz (not installed will be skipped)
+ installpkg newer required packages and new additions you'd like to have
