[SKRIVA] Tidigare opubbad Wyndham-roman ute

En tidigare opublicerad roman av John Wyndham (1903-69), Plan for Chaos, har nu
kommit ut i Storbritannien. Här en recension:

Den sägs ha skrivits ungefär samtidigt som den framgångsrika Triffidernas
uppror, alltså tidigt 50-tal, men Wyndhamns agent lyckades då inte sälja
manuset.
Boken sägs vara litet av en deckare som sedan växlar in på ett sf-spår.
"The novel, which its editors speculate was written at roughly the same time as
Triffids, will take Wyndham fans by surprise, at least to start with. It begins
with the narrator, Johnny Farthing, a photographer for a glossy New York
magazine, discovering that a number of blonde women who have recently died in
mysterious circumstances all bear a startling resemblance to each other – all
the more startling to Johnny because they also uncannily resemble his cousin
Freda, to whom he is secretly engaged.
The Secret Garden for saleWhat follows feels like it was written by Raymond
Chandler after an X-Files box-set binge, as Johnny goes through all the
conventional gumshoe stuff of getting bashed on the head, falsely arrested by
the police and so on, while encountering more and more Freda-alikes, and, even
more bizarrely, a number of men who are the spitting image of himself. The
mystery is cleared up but not before the novel enters more familiar Wyndhamish
territory, when Johnny and Freda are kidnapped and taken to a secret jungle
fortress in which an old lady who was once a chum of Hitler’s rules over an
army of Aryan human clones who travel about in flying saucers."
