September 28, 1944 Sinatra visits the White House
note: Toots Shor idolized FDR as much if not more than Frankie. Democratic
National Committee chairman, Robert Hannegan, wasa regular at Toots restaurant
in New York. Knowing the affection Toots had for the President, Hannegan
invited him to The WhiteHouse for tea. Toots asked if he could bring his
friends Frank andRags. The three of them flew down from La Guardia the next
day.They entered the White House Red Room at exactly 3:00 P.M.And there sat
the great man. Frank was terrified. Roosevelt smiledand asked Frank to sit
down. Little did Sinatra know that his idol would be dead in less than seven
months. On his Max Factor show, 4-18-45,Sinatra would give a detailed account
