When I was working on my 1992 book, RCA gave me all of the session
sheets from 1940 thru 1942. They also included some interesting odds and ends.
Here is a copy of the contract Dorsey signed for his appearance in Canton, Ohio,

note: Frank had left Dorsey in early September of 1942. He sang a musical number in the
Columbia Pictures film "Reveille With Beverly" and was able to secure two sustaining radio
programs that got underway in early October. But he was very nervous. There were no
club bookings and he had just bought his first house in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey.
Actually, Frankie was scared it might not go the way he had planned. Desperate, he
had heard about the vaudeville shows at the Central Theatre in Passaic, N.J. He dropped
in one day and asked the manager for a job. He planned to ask for just four days to prove
himself, but the manager knew who Frank Sinatra was and gave him a week. Word of
mouth got scouts coming over from the major theatres in New York City. Frankie was a
hit and that led to more local bookings. And this led to the Paramount Theatre on 12-30-42.
The Central asked Frank to do an encore performance in December. Even though he had
the Big Apple booking, Frank was grateful and immediately agreed to be part of the pre-
Christmas show.
