div.yiv2716816986WordSection1 {}-->Here’s one I could not confirm: The City
of Hope telethon was October 17-18, 1953. I found lots of articles mentioning
Sinatra scheduled to appear but no confirmation. Reviews were sparse and none
mentioned Sinatra Scott I don't think a review would omit a
mention of Sinatra in the fall of 1953. But, you never know. Here are few things
that definitely didn't happened.
I have often wondered why Frank was never the host on "Colgate Comedy
Hour." Hereis a Variety article that shows us he almost made it. That weekend
was perhaps the lowpoint in Frank's life. He would be hospitalized on the 17th
and then his life would start to move in a positive direction. The following
week the Comedy Hour would be broadcastin color- only time - with Donald
O'Connor as the host. The 11/29 show would have Frank singing Harold Arlen
songs with the composer backing him on piano. The Martin-Lewis annual
telethon was scheduled for 11-25-26 with Frank an invited guest. He did not
make an appearance.Ed
