I really enjoyed “The Dig” as well. I had never heard of “Passing”, I’ll have
to check it out. I also want to see “The Eyes of Tammy Faye.” Went last night
to see “The Kingsman.” It was the first time I’d been to the movies in a
while. Everything has been shut down but our local theatre, the Regent in
Picton recently opened up and I wanted to see this movie. It was very
enjoyable.
I too thought Bardem was excellent. I like J.K. Simmons as an actor but I
didn’t think he was right for the part of William Frawley. Nicole Kidmann did
an excellent job.

I didn’t enjoy Power of The Dog. It was way too slow and predictable. The
same goes for “Don’t Look Up” and “Dune.” I want to see Belfast. The trailer
for “Tick Tick Boom” is amazing and I loved “Being The Ricardos” although
neither was nominated for Best Picture.

The two films I enjoyed the most in recent months are "Passing" and
"The Dig."
Wondering if anyone has seen "Nightmare Alley." I found it to be ugly, gruesome
and
nihilistic. The 1947 film is far superior, esp. that wonderful cinematography.
I liked
"Being The Ricardos." Bardem was a very pleasant surprise. There was a lot of
controversy regarding a non-Cuban being cast. I thought he was outstanding. Saw
"Tick, Tick Boom". If you like watching a manic narcissist for two hours, it
will thrill
you. I thought Garfield was much better in "The Eyes Of Tammy Faye." Chastain
was terrific. I think she has an excellent shot at winning the Oscar. "Drive My
Car"
will be shown next week. I am looking forward to it. Got the best reviews of the
10 nominated films. Warning: it runs three hours.

Me"? Google just gives a bio of Tom that mentions the unreleased Sinatra record.
Have you seen "Belfast ?" Van Morrison music is the dominant sound throughout.
Yes I thought it was a very good movie, and a couple of Sinatra references if
my memory serves (the kid mentioning wanting to see "Robin and the 7 Hoods",
and a copy of "Come Fly With Me" next to a record player)

And when the kid mentions "Robin & 7 Hoods," he is told it is a
musical. Doesn't buy it.
But they skip it. Outstanding film. A frontrunner to win best picture with
"Power Of The Dog" right
there, too. "Drive My Car" is the dark horse. We shall see.

Was just listening to Leo Green guest hosting The Clare Teal Show (Jazz FM,
February 13th)
Of Van Morrison's "Moondance", he claims "I'm even reliably informed that Frank
Sinatra made a recording of this song, which featured Harry Edison on trumpet,
but unfortunately his version has never been released".
Has anyone ever heard of this?

I have all of the Reprise work sheets, catalog with master
numbers, full page of unissued recordings.
There is nothing. I interviewed quite a few musicians who worked many Reprise
sessions. Never a mention.
But anything is possible. Frank did record Tom Shapiro's "Nobody Has A Better
Dream Than Me." Song was
intended for "Trilogy." Frank did 19 takes. Bob Gaudio is a close friend of
Tom's. He had me contact him. Tom
gave me a detailed description of what transpired. And there are other sub rosa
efforts.
