Frank opened a three week engagement
at the Sands on this date in 1967. Audience got to
hear "Some Enchanted Evening" with H.B. Barnum
arrangement, plus "The World We Knew" (would love
to hear a concert version), "Don't Sleep In The Subway"
and "You Are There." Frank also performed during the
engagement "Strangers In The Night," "This Town"
and "Change Partners" with Al Viola on guitar. A very
contemporary group of songs for late summer 1967.

SINATRA SCORES AT SANDS WITH 'STUFFED HORN'

LAS VEGAS -- Frank Sinatra made his 29th appearance
at the Sands Hotel Wednesday night(30) to a capacity crowd.
Sinatra, who had a sore throat, received medication through-
out the day and within minutes of showtime, appeared on stage
and sang eight songs. including "Moonlight In Vermont," "Don't
Sleep In The Subway, Darling," and brought the house down
with a swinging version of his recording "That's Life."
Describing his cold as a "stuffed horn," Sinatra joked about
Howard Hughes who recently bought the Sands.
Sinatra spent about 40 minutes on stage, with Sammy Davis
unexpectedly spelling him for about 15 minutes. Sinatra and
Davis closed the show with a version of "The Lady Is A Tramp."
Buddy Rich and his 16 piece band, conducted by Bill Miller,
backed Sinatra. Also on the bill is comedian Pat Henry.

Note that apparently he started on both the 28th and 30th. I know that Dean
Martin was in before him but Dean's father passed away on August 28th and
some articles have Sammy subbing until the 30th when Sinatra started. Some
articles say that Sinatra subbed from Dean from the 28th on.
