The film featured a number of notable guest appearances by such important
big band era musicians as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, The
Mills Brothers, Bob Crosby, Freddie Slack, and Ella Mae Morse.

Ann Miller plays Beverly Ross who wants to be a radio personality, but has
to run the switchboard at a local station. The blustery station owner Mr.
Kennedy (Tim Ryan) wants no part of programming the "jive that she loves",
preferring the classics. She sends the pompous early-morning personality
Vernon Lewis (Franklin Pangborn) away for a vacation, so she can transform
his dull classical-music program into a jive session. She invites
suggestions and requests, and is swamped by mail from soldiers. She now
devotes her show to the military, and the program becomes a success as
"Reveille with Beverly."

Note:  Sinatra appears in black tux with white tie and gloves with an
all-female orchestra and sings "Night and Day"

Ed O'Brien:
Frank subbed for Sammy Davis on 2/1 and then opened on 2/2. He did one show
that night,
two shows on Friday and Saturday ( 3-4), cancelled Sunday and Monday, due to
illness( 5-6),
finished the week by doing two shows a night on Tuesday and Wednesday( 7-8).
Next engagement was scheduled for Harrah's in Lake Tahoe, 2-24-28. Cancelled
due to illness.
Frank played a week at Caesars, March 2-8. He was set to do one show a night
for the week.
Demand was so great Frank did two shows on both Friday and Saturday ( 3-4)
The Sunrise Theatre in Sunrise, Florida was his next stop. The engagement
was set to run from
March 13-19. .Monday was opening night and Frank was in form and Tuesday was
another good
show.. But he just couldn't shake the bug plaguing him for over a month. The
rest of the week
was rescheduled for April 13-16 with two shows on both the 14 and 15( Friday
and Saturday).

fellow entertainer. He could not explain it, but his performance was far

note: The Waring orchestra with some additions added up to 38 musicians
at this session. The Pennsylvanians numbered 28 as a vocal backup for
Bing and Frank. Bing would redub his vocal on 3/10 and Frank would do
the same on 3/17. Dick Reynolds co-arranged "You Never Had It So Good."
The Reprise files have everything in chronological order including the
January
recordings for "America i Hear You Singing" But this session is missing. You
can
only find mention of it in a special section of Sinatra-Crosby recordings.
