Hi Everyone,
Hope you had a great break! Just wanted to inform everyone with what you can
expect this semester. Firstly, we will not have a meeting this upcoming
Saturday (13th of January). I intend to have a callout soon and we will be
having our meetings the Saturday following the callout. The date and time have
yet to be determined.
Additionally, I found that many people are interested in more of the machine
learning side of AI, so I plan on focusing more on ML this semester. I am
excited about this shift as I personally find this area very interesting, and
hope you will too. With this, there will some changes to how the club has been
running so far.
Rather than a two-hour block of time on a Saturday, I am planning on having two
one-hour meetings, maybe one on Wednesday and another on Saturday. This would
hopefully keep everyone interested as a two-hour meeting might make some lose
motivation. Additionally, every three or four meetings, I would introduce a new
topic, such as Naive Bayes or Neural Networks, and give you guys the experience
to implement it for yourself on real-world data.
There is a lot of info here so feel free to email me back at jdiei@xxxxxxxxxx
or Ray at du113@xxxxxxxxxx if you have any questions or concerns. Bonus points
if you have any recommendations/suggestions I could look into.
Best,
Jean-Michael
