Not all numpads work equally well. You may have to try a few, or get a
recommendation from someone who has found one that works well. You need to
go into the JAWS Basic Options menu and either tab to or type Alt-L to go
directly to the combo box that says "Use keyboard layout" and be sure you
have Desktop selected.

hi.
do you know if the laptop does not have num-pad keys itself, could it
be used with an external num-pad keybord?
i use external num-pad, but does not read the changes when i press the keys.
can you help me?
