Dan,

Nice. I do know about the checkbox in the import MIDI box, but I still
prefer doing the quantization in Sonar, as I have more control and can undo
as necessary.

However your suggestion on the "renotate performance" is a new one on me.
I've not stumbled across that one yet. I'll give it a try next time to see
the work it can save me. Thanks as always, and of course, welcome back.

Dave

Dave,

There's also an option in the import MIDI file dialog to round notes up to
the duration you specify. I can't remember the exact name of the check box
but it does much the same thing as quantising.

It's worth checking out the "simplify notation" plug-ins because these can
really help with awkward MIDI files. The best ones are:

Combine Tied Notes and Rests
Remove Unison Notes
Renotate Performance

Chris,

Further to your question: If you import a MIDI file and don't want separate
voices to result, there is a checkbok in the MIDI import dialog to control
that.

Also I presume that before you import the MIDI file you have quantized it
both in note position and note duration so that it will not have a bunch of
32nd, 64th, 128th, and 256th note and rest durations and ties? Gets really
messy unless you take care to quantize before importing.

Hi,

I've imported a MIDI file of a guitar piece I'm trying to convert to
woodwind. It has a chord of G4 and G5 at the first position on the stave.
I want to delete the G4.

The manual says in 1.6 Selecting:
If you want to select a particular notehead in a chord, use Alt+3/

I don't get what it means by Alt+3/. When I do this it just tells me I'm
moving to voice 3. That is, I press Alt and the number 3 on the number 3 on
the keyboard. Using the number pad with num lock on and off makes no
difference. Does the slash indicate a control key that hasn't rendered from
the PDF to the text file? Alt+F3 doesn't work either - this is the system
objects dialogue.

Pressing tab selects both notes.

Help please!

Cheers,

chris
