Hi Kevin,

I'm doing a little work to clean up this part of the code but what's there
is workable. I've pasted the section from the milestone which should
explain things.

Mixer

The mixer is not fully supported at this time, however the user can
manipulate the volume sliders, solo and mute buttons in the staff and group
strips. Panning controls, as well as access to the VST and bus strips will
be included in a later version, however this will require considerable
development time.

The interface uses a "hook" function to place some of the keyboard into an
altered state. This is the only way to avoid excessively complex
keystrokes. It works as follows:

Pressing "ctrl+m" opens the mixer and activates "mixer mode".
Pressing ctrl + Tab switches between the staff strips and group strips.
Pressing tab and shift + tab moves between each strip in turn.
Pressing "s" toggles the solo button.
Pressing "m" toggles the mute button.
Pressing "v" speaks the volume of the current strip.
Pressing ctrl+v sets the volume to the default level (100 or 0dB).
Pressing up/down arrow increases/decreases the volume by one.
Pressing ctrl+up/down arrow increases/decreases the volume by a larger step.
Pressing Space will play or stop the score as usual.
Pressing ctrl + space will replay the last section as usual.

To exit the mixer mode, press any key which is not listed above. JAWS will
say "exiting mixer mode" and focus will be returned to the score.

The mixer window can only display about 18 staves at a time. Sighted users
can drag a scroll bar, on the right side of the mixer window, to reveal
other staves and Sibelius Access will do the same whenever it is necessary.

Whenever scrolling takes place, a message will be spoken to announce the
fact. There will also be a small delay while JAWS manipulates the scroll
bar. This delay is unavoidable.

The numbers which JAWS speaks when a volume slider is moved are only
estimates of the volume. Testing has revealed that the true volume is not
necessarily the same as that which is implied by the slider. The difference
is possibly too small to be significant however, it should be noted in any
case.

When mixer mode is activated or deactivated, Sibelius Access will
automatically open or close the mixer window, however, the alt + ctrl + M
keystroke can be used to open or close the mixer without entering mixer
mode.

When entering mixer mode, the bottom edge of the mixer window will be
dragged down to ensure that the window is fully expanded. This is necessary
if the scrolling functions are to work properly.

A bug has been detected in the way that the volume sliders are operated.
When you move to a different staff strip, Sibelius Access remembers the
volume of the strip which was just moved away from. This means that when
you first try to move a volume slider on the new staff it will be set to
match the volume of the old staff. This has already been fixed in the code
I'm working on.

Hope this helps,

Dan Rugman

Subject: [sib-access] Is there any documentation on navigating the Mixer
Window?

Dear All,
Subject says it all. I have trouble navigating the mixer window and
wonder if there's any documentation on that besides reading the entire list
of Sib Access keystrokes.
Thanks,
Kevin
