Kamran, your confusion is probably due to the fact that there are various 
ways to both look at and tackle the various issues including:

Reliability,
Performance,
Cost,
Density,
Complexity,
Availability

Your best bet is to read as many of the various publications as you can, 
sort out what holds-up to first principles and what does not, and go from 
there.
