The PCI Specification calls for 2 different connector configurations,
and 3 different keying options. These differences are for both the
32-Bit & 64-Bit PCI Busses.

In PC's, the inclusion of +5V was to allow cards to be installed where
the majority of the power suppy capacity available was from the +5 rail
(ayt that time). This is ancient history and unless you making boards to
fit ancient equipment or legacy boards plug into you background you can
forget about providing the +5V supply or the capability of interfacing
to or allowing mixes of +5V I/O of any sort. Key everything for 3.3V.

Subject: [SI-LIST] pci bus

hello all

I am working on a new project which includes a PCI bus.

I am not familier with this bus and I will appriciate to get any
material or links

about SI issues in PCI bus design.

I dont understand the voltage supply to the bus. If i have a 3.3V key
it means that the

card works with only 3.3V so why to supply 5v to the board?

  Thanks in advance

  David
