Dear digital gurus: We've developed a little frequency divider module (f/8 -f/128), and we'd like to know how fast it will go. We suspect 10+ GHz on the input, since the Hittite part inside is spec'ed at 13 GHz, but we don't have the equipment necessary to drive it beyond 4 GHz. If someone with better equipment could test this for us, we'll let you keep the prototype module :) You'd need: 1) 8-12+ GHz frequency source (the module requires ~-5 dbm/180 mVp-p to drive the input) 2) A scope fast enough to see the outputs 3) A counter to verify the output You get to keep: i) The frequency divider pod ii) AC adapter iii) Several DC blocks iv) Our eternal gratitude We would like in return: A) Scope captures at various input rates up to 12 GHz and fmax, where the output fails B) Verification of each available output ratio (f/8, f/16, f/32, f/64, and f/128) C) Some quantitative metrics on jitter, etc. C) Qualitative commentary on the unit (usability, ergonomics, etc). I would think this would less than an hour to set up and run, and you'd get a very nice frequency divider in exchange. Physically, it will look similar to this slower model: http://www.pulseresearchlab.com/dividers but with one input and 4 complementary outputs. The input is single-ended CML on an SMA, and the output is differential ECL, also on SMAs. Act now! Supplies are limited to one :). Please let me know what equipment you have at your disposal. Feel free to email me off-list if this is not list-appropriate material. Then again, if it _is_ list-appropriate material, I'd love to get feedback on what people want/need/value in a frequency divider. -- Steven Kan (p) 310-515-5330 x24 Pulse Research Lab (f) 310-515-0068 1234 Francisco St., Torrance, CA 90502 (c) 818-620-3062 mailto:steven@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.pulseresearchlab.com The Quickest Way to Go Fast! ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List FAQ wiki page is located at: http://si-list.org/wiki/wiki.pl?Si-List_FAQ List technical documents are available at: http://www.si-list.org List archives are viewable at: //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list or at our remote archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu
