If your design can afford it you could look at the Polyswitch
range from Tyco which are basically
PTC resettable fuses. Typical part is TRF250-180, with
associated thyristor TVB270SA.

There is a cost associated with this of course, but the
advantage is that you wont have to deal
with field recalls due to blown fuses.
