Interesting and good read.  However I have always regarded SATA as, like 
(parallel) ATA, an internal link, not intended for use outside the (screened) 
case of the computer.  I suppose your point is that many people are starting to 
use it as an external connection.  Those people will have problems, as you 
point out.
