Huber+Suhner also makes some very good cables. They are priced accordingly, of course. I'd suggest instead of SMA's get 3.5mm's. They're generally inter-matable and tend to be more robust mechanically. With 'cheap' cables, SMA's are fine. With more expensive cables, I think the 3.5mm's are worth it. -- Mark Randol ON Semiconductor 901 S Mopac Expy Barton Oaks 4, Ste 343 Austin, TX 78746 512-329-5640 Voice 512-329-8151 FAX -----Original Message----- From: si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of steve weir Sent: Tuesday, October 28, 2008 2:49 PM To: QU Perry Cc: si-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [SI-LIST] Re: SMA cable for TDR Gore cables aren't cheap ( particularly Phase Flex ) because they are very high quality / high bandwidth cables that perform well and if not abused will last many years. For a high bandwidth TDR or VNA Gore is always my first choice. How much performance you need from your cables depends on what kind of rise times you want to deliver to your DUT from the TDR, and how consistently you want to deliver it. If cash is a problem you can always look through the used market.
