Hi All,
Charles has an interesting observation. Back in my Bell Labs days,
engineers were "Members of Technical Staff" and any MTS, in most parts
of the Labs, were considered able to take on any job whether it be
analog or digital design, EMC, SI, anything. MTS were expected to learn
anything necessary for a new assignment, and we did! On the other hand,
we had almost limitless resources (by comparison to today's work
environment) at our disposal.
